This morning I made a batch of my favorite eye makeup remover and wanted to share it with you!

My main ingredients
Finished Product
Here is the basic recipe:
- 2 T. witch hazel
- 2 T. liquid oil (jojoba, almond, olive, avocado, etc.)
- 2 T. distilled water
- 1 t. castor oil
- 1 t. almond oil
- 1 t. fractionated coconut oil
- 1/4-1/2 t. Vitamin E oil
The oils will separate from the witch hazel and water as it sits, so before using, mix ingredients in container by shaking well. Use a cotton ball to apply. When washing face afterwards, cleanse eye area to remove any oily residue.
This recipe costs between $1.25 and $1.75 to make 3.5 fluid ounces, depending on what oil I use for the second ingredient, which comes to $0.35-0.50 per ounce. The eye makeup remover I used in the past came to $1.70 per ounce. Really the cost isn’t the issue, I just like making it and experimenting with which oils I like. Most commercial eye makeup removers advertise as oil-free, so you may not like the feel of this. I actually like the oil–I rinse most of it off when I cleanse my face, and I like having the eye area moisturized.
I have been using this recipe for two years, playing around with the different oils. This time I used 2 Tablespoons of avocado oil for the second ingredient, but so far I like jojoba oil the best! Try it and let me know in the comments if you make some and what you think–
